The new Popeye’s is centrally located on busy Colman Street and is surrounded by dozens of national automotive retailers and many of the other major quick service restaurant chain in the industry.  The new Popeye’s is the former location of Bess Eaton Donuts, which was most recently succeeded by Tim Horton’s.

 

The "soft opening" of the New London Popeye’s restaurant took place on Sunday, Dec. 20.  A heavy snow storm blanketed the state the night before, but that didn’t keep friends and family away.  Invited guests sampled the unique chicken recipes and experienced Popeye’s trademark customer service.  The following day, Popeye’s was open to the general public and despite more frigid weather, the restaurant staff served a record number of customers. The new store continues to operate at a level significantly above all expectations.

 

Popeye’s originated in Louisiana in 1972 and today is the second-largest “quick-service chicken restaurant group, measured by number of units,” with more than 1,800 restaurants in more than 40 states in the U.S., the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and twenty foreign countries.
